Outside the sewer area, there is a grant towards a septic tank
Izumo City subsidises the cost of installing a combined treatment septic tank. The amounts are ¥332,000 for a 5-person tank and ¥414,000 for a 7-person tank (there is a 10-person tank too). Izumo City, the town of ties.
Izumo City's relocation desk is called the "Enmusubi Settlement Division" — the division for tying people to the place (0853-21-6629). There are a great many schemes, so they are set out here in three groups: renting, buying, and coming to look.
[Renting] There are two. The Izumo Living I-turn Support Grant gives single people under 40 who I-turn into Izumo City from outside the prefecture up to ¥20,000 a month towards private rent (half of the rent less any housing allowance). Move to an area rich in nature and the share rises to two-thirds. For FY2026 there are 30 places, first come first served.
The other is the Izumo New Life Support Grant. Newly married households (married less than 5 years) get up to ¥20,000 a month and child-raising households (living with someone under 18) up to ¥25,000 a month, for 12 months. For FY2026 there are 20 households, first come first served.
[Buying] Two here as well. The Izumo relocation renovation grant gives a household that has bought a property listed on the akiya bank 30% of the work, up to ¥800,000. The conditions are moving in having lived outside the city for 5 consecutive years or more (or having moved in within the last 3 years), contracting with a firm whose head or branch office is in the city, spending ¥500,000 or more on the work, and living there for 5 years or more — and you must apply before the work starts. Once only in any 3 years.
The Izumo City relocation housing grant gives newly married or child-raising U- and I-turn households, or U- and I-turn households moving to an area rich in nature (depopulated or remote areas and the like), an amount equivalent to the property tax when they build or buy a home, second-hand included.
